Historical Styles Of Electric Guitars

By Jake Zertosky

There are many different styles of electric guitars. The electric guitar is a very well recognized instrument in about all forms of music. In 1932, musician Gage Brewer performed one of the earliest documented performances with an electric guitar. The electric guitar influenced Hawaiian style music and Western style music in the early years. Though these styles were the first, they were not the only styles to use the electric guitar.

Jazz would be the next in succession introducing the electric guitar. The man responsible for introducing the electric guitar to jazz was George Barnes playing hallow body guitars. Later into the 1970's, jazz players switched over to solid body guitars.

The electric guitar had been used for decades. The rock era of music was a giant leap in music as guitarist had begun to experiment with different medias to play with. Other medias would include the bow of a violin and even a drill. This leap would continue to catapult forward as computers technology took us into the digital world.

If you are interested in purchasing an electric guitar, then you will want to know what kind of guitar it is you are looking for. There are several styles in which to choose from depending on what it is you want to play and how you want it to sound.

Typical of hardwood that has been drying out for 3-6 months, a solid body guitar would be cut into shape, coated with lacquer, and strung with steel strings. Another style of guitar similar to a solid body is is a string through body. This guitar has holes in the base of it where the strings are strung through it. The sound emitted from the pick-ups comes from the vibrations of the strings.

A hallow body guitar, similar to a solid body guitar, is the semi-acoustic guitar. This guitar is different because of its hallow design, the pick ups also have the vibration of the body mixed in the electrical sound. These guitars will have one, two, or no holes depending on the sound you are seeking. Semi-acoustic guitars are not limited to wood as there metal-bodied styles that are solid body in design. An electric acoustic guitar transfers the electric signal through the top or the body of the guitar rather than the directly from the string vibration.

Where as electric guitars are typically six string, there are also seven, eight, nine, ten, and twelve string. Other variations of the electric guitar are guitars that have a third bridge and double necks. Double neck guitars are designed to be played as guitar and bass or a twelve string.

When searching for a guitar to purchase, then you will want to shop around as electric guitars can range anywhere from less than a hundred dollars to well into the thousands of dollars. Though you get what you pay for, you will need to research not only what it is you are purchasing but where it has been. Always compare web sites, local dealers, or even pawn shops when searching the different styles of electric guitars. - 18762

You'll learn all the piano basics with the beginner piano lessons. You'll be taught how to read notes, the basics of rhythm, count, pedal, position your hands correctly on the keys, play with hands alone and play hands to hands together. Learning something new is always harder in the beginning. More effort is needed since you are still on the getting to know stage. But once you get used to it, you'll start to enjoy while you are learning. You need to have fun while learning so you'll avoid getting bored. Boredom might lead you to quitting the learning process.

It is recommended to set a beginner piano lesson schedule that suits you. You should make the most out of your piano sessions. It is also important to designate time for practice. Practice will put your knowledge to the test and will help you learn effectively. Practice is very vital, it keeps your memory sharp. Leona Lewis And Robbie Williams Plan To Record Duet

By Clive Wilmot-Brown

There are reports that Leona Lewis, X Factor's biggest star and Robbie Williams the former Take That singer may be teaming up in the studio, with two new songs potentially on the agenda. Even if the rumor doesn't prove to be true, after Williams sealed his comeback on X Factor it seems that such a studio collaboration is just a matter of time.

Robbie had a very good 2009. He managed to land a top 5 position in both the UK singles and album chart. Williams also reunited with his former band Take That for a special charity reunion gig in aid of a children's charity. Williams also appeared on X-Factor. His performance was memorable as he managed to forget the words to his biggest song, Angels.

If the reports are to be believed then the two tracks will appear on the re-release of the second Leona Lewis album. The album has been planned for re-release as Leona Lewis has recorded the track for one of the highest grossing movies of all time, the 3D movie Avatar. Some reports are even suggesting that Robbie Williams will appear with Leona on her tour in the summer of 2010.

On top of working so closely with Leona Lewis, a different sort of rumor concerning Williams has been in circulation: it's been said that Simon Cowell is looking to obtain Williams as a new member of the X Factor's judging panel. According to sources close to the star, Robbie Williams has confirmed that he would consider taking the role to become a judge on the reality TV show.

Leona Lewis shot to fame thanks to the X-Factor program. With Robbie possibly becoming a judge on the show it would represent an interesting marketing angle for pop mogul Simon Cowell to promote a duet between the two. - 18762

Guitar Lessons in 2010 Have some Great Options

By Elizabeth Gibson

2010 is going to be a great year for anyone who wants to buy guitar lessons. Online lessons are still very popular, but several new DVD courses are available. The two top selling courses come from Jamorama (the makers of a well-known online course) and Legacy Learning Systems, who creators of a great DVD guitar lesson course. Later in this article some of the recent changes going on at Jamorama will be explained.

With the growth of the internet and the speed of newer computer, online guitar lessons are here to stay. These can be problematic, for reasons such as getting confused with which video follows the one you started with and they require a fast computer so that the videos play correctly. DVDs are a great option for several reasons - you don't spend time downloading and you don't even have to be connected to the internet or use a computer at all. This is why Legacy Learning Systems has had such success with their course, Learn and Master Guitar. But now, Jamorama has released all of their lesson on DVDs too! Like I said, 2010 is a good year for learning to play the guitar.

Why I think many people choose guitar lessons on DVDs is the fact that they want to get away from their computer to practice their guitar lessons. With DVDs you can take them to whatever place you have a TV and DVD player, or you can take them over to a friend's place. They even can be carried along with you on a vacation.

I am not saying that online lessons are not good - they are great! Some can be confusing though if the program is not designed well. For example, some don't make it clear enough which lesson to take when. All in all, for a beginner guitar player, any of the well-known lessons are a good start. And it is nice to know there is a choice between online or DVDs for those who don't have a newer, faster computer.

As a choice in DVD guitar lessons, much can be said about the value in the Learn and Master Guitar lessons course. Steve Krenz is the teacher and along with Legacy Learning Systems (producers of professional training materials) this team has won many awards. Though it's not the lowest priced course on the market, it is one of the most complete guitar learning programs available (with 20 DVDs and 5 Jam Along CDs, as well as a printed workbook and an online community to connect with other students and also with the teacher).

If you have ever looked at the Jamorama guitar lessons website in the past, you may have felt confused about what their course includes (I know I have). For 2010, they have redesigned it and changed their course offerings to 3 clearly distinguishable lesson plans. The Standard Edition is the one they have been offering since 2005. But now they have an improved Advanced Edition (all of the standard edition with an extra software bonus and more intense intermediate and advanced lessons for playing acoustic guitar, plus special lesson for playing lead guitar and electric guitar riffs). They all come with books, too. And the best new option they have is a DVD and CD option so that you no longer are required to get the lessons by downloading everything.

Either way you look at it, the money you will have to spend on guitar lessons is not nearly as costly as the blood, sweat and tears or the dedication and time you will spend learning. Your commitment is the real ingredients that you will need to invest so that you can learn to be a great guitar player. - 18762

Technology Changes As We Move From Records To MP3 Players

By John Davids

In the not so distant past, most of us over a certain age, will doubtless remember having a record collection. This was all the technology we knew and, by plugging in a record player, we could listen toour songs without having to wait to catch them on the radio. Now, in the present day, technology has changed so much it's almost unrecognizable.

Those of use who enjoy music today will most likely use a small media player. A gadget that will hold of their favorite songs in a device that is hardly larger than our thumb. The MP3 music player as a technology, originally appeared in the mid 1980s however we would not see the digital media player in its present-day shape until the late 1990s, 1998 to be correct. But when it was released it would transform way we listen to music forever.

MP3 audio players utilizes audio processing technology, to convert existing sound files to the MP3 format. The MP3 format consists of compressed audio files; audio that has been compressed into very small files that can fit onto and be read by an MP3 media player. The MP3 format achieves this compression without noticably losing the sound quality.

In some instances, it can be possible, depending on the memory capacity of the MP3 media player, for users to hold thousands of songs on it, and that's not all, because of its size the MP3 audio player is a portable unit that can fit in handbags and coat pockets. Users have access to their favorite songs no matter where they are and what they are doing.

The MP3 music player transfers audio files through the use of a computer. The most fashionable MP3 player model, which is the iPod by Apple. With their unique iTunes software the iPod made docking to a PC easy and convenient for users. Many other MP3 digital player manufactures use Windows Media Player to connect their players to a PC.

Using a PC, users can either upload their favorite CDs that can then be downloaded onto the MP3 music player; or they can purchase songs online and then download them to the unit. Apple's iTunes is the most commonly used musical resource for buying and downloading songs, even though there are other services available online.

But aside from the ease of transferring and updating songs, the MP3 music player is generally valued for its portability. It can be plugged into your vehicle and played through your cars sound system, or radio with an FM transmitter, plugged into earphones and played while you exercise, or connected to portable speakers and played throughout your home. In any case, the MP3 music player is still one of the best pieces of equipment available in the market today, to play music. - 18762
