A Number Of Basic Cinematic Film Reviews

By Jon Neal

Until recently, if you wanted to watch a movie, a trip to a video store like Blockbuster was your only option. As technologies have advanced, downloading dvds from movie download sites is becoming very common. Below is a sample of some of the movies you can find using movie download sites.

About Schmidt: Another great role played by Jack Nicholson. He is a recently retired, successful insurance agent who now has nothing but time on his hands. He starts to look back at his life, and he begins to question the path he chose for himself. This movie is a bitter sweet comedy. Stars include Jack Nicholson, Hope Davis, and Dermot Mulroney. (2002 Comedy)

Wild Wild West: This is a big screen adaptation to the old TV series of the same name. James West and his buddy Artemus Gordon are determined to stop the evil Dr. Arliss Loveless, who is planning to assassinate the president. Will Smith stars as James West.

Barton Fink: Self-vital N.Y. playwright Turturro comes to Hollywood in 1941 to inscribe a screenplay, and finds it a living hell-in more ways than one. Check out vintage Hollywood, filled with marvelous detail and astounding scenes; informed in Joel and Ethan Coen's usually flamboyant graphic fashion. However, at a vital point the film takes an acute left turn toward the weird, and on no account returns. Cast includes John Turturro, John Goodman, Judy Davis, Michael Lemer, John Mahoney, Tony Shalhoub, David W arrilow, and Christopher Mumey. (117 minutes, 1991)

Gran Torino: Walt Kowalski is a tough minded Korean War Vet who doesn't get along with anyone. When Tao, his neighbor tries to steal his prize possession, his 1973 Gran Torino, he sets out the reform his young neighbor. When other gangs in the area threaten Tao and his family, Walt takes action to protect his newfound friends.

Jackie Chan's First Strike: Hong Kong's most visibly agile cop finds himself in a James Bond like captivate engaging the CIA, Russian mafia, an atomic weapon, and obviously, an excellent-looking girl scuba diver. The dubbing here is normally e, yet in a lark like this it seriously doesn't matter; the last 2 thirds is nearly fence-ta-fence action, containing an incredible donnybrook in which Chan makes memorable use of an elevator. Cast includes Jackie Chan. Chen Chun Wu, Jackson Lou, and Bill Tung. (110 minutes, 1996)

Barry McKenzie Holds His Own: Idiotic follow-up to THE Ventures OF BARRY MCKRNZIE, in reference to oafish title personality, his double sibling both played by Crocker, and one Edna Everage Humphries, in drag, who is abducted and taken to Transvlvania. Cast includes Barry Crocker, Barry Humphries, Donald Pleasence, Dick Bentley, and Louis Negin. (93 minutes, 1974)

Apollo 13: This film recounts the incredible story of the Apollo 13 mission to the moon. Nearing the moon, the spacecraft experiences multiple systems failures. With the oxygen supply failing and systems not functioning, they are stranded mover 200,000 miles from Earth. Against impossible odds, the crew of Apollo 13, and thousands of people on the ground, all work tirelessly on creative solutions to bring them safely home. The fact that this crew survived this mission is one of the truly miraculous stories of our lifetime.

Hannah and Her Sisters: (1986) C-106 Allen strikes gold as he studies some usually fascinating and obsessive New Yorkers whose lives become entangled. Superbly cast with Woody in top form as Farrow's hypochondriac ex-spouse. Cast includes Woody Allen, Michael Caine, Mia Farrow, Carrie Fisher, Barbara Hershey, Lloyd Nolan, Maureen O'Sullivan, Daniel Stem, Max von Sydow, Dianne Wiest, J.T. Walsh, Richard Jenkins, Julie Kavner, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and John Turturro. (106 minutes, 1986)

The illustrated Man: Youthful drifter Driva meets tattooed guy Steiger, looking for the bizarre lady (Bloom), who "illustrated" his whole body. The drifter sees futuristic stories in three of the depictions, most of which include megastar Steiger and, or Bloom and Drivas. The film is adisheartening, dull-paced adaptation of tales from Ray Bradbury. Cast includes Rod Steiger, Claire Bloom, Robert Drivas, Don Dubbins, Jason Evers, Ton Weldon, and Christie Matchett. (103 minutes, 1969)

FL Studio Help and Advice Help with FL Studio About FL Studio FL Studio Guide FL Studio Explained FL Studio in a nutshell FL Studio Tips Why use FL Studio

By Greg Pearson

FL Studio is a software Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) that can be use to make dance oriented music like hip hop beats and electronica. Technically it can be used for any genre of music, but the workflow of the program lends itself best towards music with a 4/4 time.

Fl Studio has many differences in the user interface compared to most other Windows based programs and it can cause some confusion. The key is to find one of the many resources to help you learn the differences and in no time this will no longer be a factor.

FL Studio can be downloaded in demo form and used as long as you want. The only limitation is the ability to save your work. One highly successful artist by the name of Soulja Boy, wrote and produced a platinum selling album using beats he created with the demo version of FL Studio.

Sound quality tests have been performed against FL Studio for years alogn wirth other DAWs. It has always placed in the top 3. The output modes of FL Studio go as high as 512 Sinc, and whileit can take a long time to render at this setting, FL Stusio will give you a pritine audio file in return. The truth is that FL Studio's 64 Sinc is more than adequate if you will be rendering to an MP3 because MP3's by nature are lossy.

One thing the FL Studio help does not provide is general musical guidelines and help. For example, say you want to learn about chords and how to use them. FL Studio Help does not provide you this information but if you use the search terms I write about in this article you will find help on things like that.

The sampling capabilities in FL Studio are among the most advanced of any sequencer. It can chop and rearrange samples in teh FL Slicer or Slicex programs, it can record into it's WAV editor called Edison. If you plane to make remixes or sampled base hip hop, you will not find a better feature set than that in FL Studio

Getting help with FL Studio is very easy by using the wonderful resources like Google and Youtube. There are so many free FL Studio Tutorials out there, you will not be disappointed.

I would reccomend against FL Studio Tutorial sites that make you pay. Often times these sites do nothing more than read the help file back to you. Save your money for some new sounds or to donate to one of the many great free FL Studio Tutorial sites. - 18762
