What You Need To Know To Learn To Play The Guitar Quickly

By Carol M. Pickett

If you want to learn to play the guitar quickly, you need to build a solid foundation. I'm serious, it may seem tedious, but this is truly the fastest way to learn to play the guitar. The first thing you must learn is guitar tuning. If you try to learn to play with your guitar not in tune, you will either never be able to get the right sound, or you will totally train your ear to not recognize the right sound.

Take a trip to the music store and grab a tuner, and while you're there, try and get your hands on a chart that shows all the guitar notes, and if you can get hold of one, get a chart that shows as many of the different chord positions as you can find. Tune your guitar, and then start with learning all the notes on the guitar, all the way up.

Once you learn the notes all the way up the neck, you can start practicing your chord positions. I know you've already skipped ahead to this part, but now you can devote some more time to it. Four easy chords to play are G, D, A and A7. For all illustrations here, and most tablature you will find, your fingers are numbered thus, index finger is 1, middle finger is 2, ring finger is 3 and baby finger is 4. So now, to play the G chord, simply place finger 3 on the top string in the third fret, finger 2 on the next string down in the second fret, and finger 4 on the bottom string in the third fret. Now holding pressure on those strings, strum the guitar and you're playing G.

D chord is relatively simple, place your second finger on the bottom string, your third finger on the next string up, third fret, and your first finger on the G string, your second and first fingers play second fret. Start strumming at the D string, which is the first string above your top finger.

The A chord is extremely simple, the bottom string is played open, this means no fingers on it, and the next three strings up are all played in the second fret. It is best to use this order for your fingers. Starting with the bottom, which in this case is the second string from the bottom, place your fingers in this order, 3, 1 and 2. That is the A chord. Now the reason I recommend that order, is that if you lift off finger number 1 you're now playing A7.

Now practice strumming these chords, and when you are familiar with them, you can switch back and forth between them. A good thing at this point, is to consider either purchasing, downloading or borrowing a Chord chart. Learn all the chords you can. The more chords you learn the more flexibility you will have.

Now time to add another element to your learning. Remember when you memorized all those notes on the guitar. Well now you get to use them for something. Pick a note, and then try and sing that note. Move around and use different notes, and don't worry it will get easier with practice. Alternate between the notes/singing and the chords.

Now if you want to be really good, try the notes and singing in the opposite order. That's right, sing the note first, and then find and pick the correct one on your guitar. Now, if you can master doing this, to the point where you can sing the note, and then almost immediately pick the right note on the guitar. If you're not playing along with some of your music, you better start. You wanted to learn to play the guitar quickly, and you just did. - 18762

What is Lil Waynes Real Name?

By Amy Nutt

Lil Wayne is an American Grammy Award-winning rapper who became one of the top-selling artists in late 2000. Also known as "Weezy Baby" he is one of the most talented, controversial, and famous rappers in the world. His freestyle abilities in singing, his unique songs, fantastic lyrics, and rhythmic hip-hop have made him a celebrated rapper.

Lil Wayne was born Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr. on September 27, 1982. He grew up in the Hollygrove neighborhood of New Orleans, Louisiana. In a CBS interview with Katie Couric, Wayne described why he uses the name of "Wayne" instead of his birth name, Dwayne. He explained, "I dropped the D because I'm a junior and my father is living and he's not in my life and he's never been in my life. So I don't want to be Dwayne, I'd rather be Wayne." Katie Couric asked Wayne if his father knew and Wayne replied, "He knows now."

Lil Wayne's biological father left him when he was just a baby. He did have a stepfather who died when he was young. Lil Wayne found a father figure in Cash Money millionaire Birdman (aka Baby) who took him under his wing. Lil Wayne recorded freestyle raps on Birdmans answering machine to get his attention. Lil Wayne calls Birdman "daddy" because he mentored him since the age of 11. Birdman was the one who brought him into the rap world. He would eventually help Lil Wayne launch his rap career.

Lil Wayne began rapping at block parties when he was a child. He wrote his first rap song at age 8. He began his career as a member of rap group, The Hot Boys, but he is especially known for his stellar solo career. His solo debut, "Tha Block is Hot," went double platinum. Lil Waynes career surged with the release of 2008's "Tha Carter III." The album featured several hits including "A Milli," "Mr. Carter" and "Lollipop." In 2005, "Tha Carter" was followed by "Tha Carter II". It sold over 200,000 copies during the first week. Lil Wayne then became the president of Cash Money Enterprises and during that same year he founded Young Money Entertainment. By 2007, he handed over his responsibilities of the companies. He began to work on his next album but four tracks were leaked, and as a result, he released a short-term album by the name of "The Leak" and followed it up with his original album, "Tha Carter III". The album was a hit selling over a million copies in its first week. In 2008, Lil Wayne was the frontrunner in Grammy nominees, with eight nominations.

Lil Wayne has two children. His first child, Reginae Carter, was born when he was a teenager with high school girlfriend Antonia "Toya" Carter. Carter and Lil Wayne married on Valentines Day of 2004 and divorced in 2006. On October 22, 2008, his son, Dwayne Carter III, was born at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati.
