By Morris Murray

It wasn't that long ago that a trip to the corner video shop was the most convenient way to get a movie. You can now save a trip to the video store and download movies right off the internet. Following is a list of a few movies that you can get using a movie download site.

The Leading Man: British backstage show romance in regards to an American film megastar who seduces a playwright's desolate spouse and his leading-woman mistress. When it might relatively make up its mind whether it's a joke drama or a light thriller, it's still extremely amusing stuff. Bon Jovi is excellent as the brash, amoral Yankee, and Galiena and Newton are fetching as the females snared in his web. Cast includes Jon Bon Jovi, Anna Galiena, Lambert Wilson, Thandie Newton, Barry Humphries, and David Warner. (100 minutes,'97)

Michael Collins: Politically charged tale of Irish insurgent leader Collins (Neeson), who with charm, guts, and idealistic fervor leads the battle against British rule in Ireland. Dynamic and commanding first half gives way to more abstinent and unavoidable summarization, in which Collins is made an ambassador and negotiator, sowing the seeds of his own downfall. Neeson is phenomenal and works with a first-rate cast in this convincing, believable, and powerful period piece, beautifully filmed by Chris Menges. Cast includes Liam Neeson, Aidan Quinn, Julia Roberts, Stephen Rea, Alan Rickman, Ian Hart, Brendan Gleeson, and Charles Dance. (132 minutes,'96)

It Takes All Kinds: Fair triple-cross drama in reference to Miles' guarding of Lansing after the man inadvertently kills a sailor in a fight in Australia. Cast includes Vera Miles, Barry Sullivan, Sid Melton, and Dime Sugg. (98 minutes,'69)

The Beverly Hillbillies: This is a movie based on the'60's TV series. When Jed Clampett accidentally finds oil on his rural land in Arkansas, he becomes an instant billionaire. He brings the whole Clampett clan out to Beverly Hills. Being simple country folk they are pray to every money hungry con artist in the big city.

Frequency: John Sullivan lost his father thirty years ago. He is still affected by the loss. Somehow with the use of his father's old ham radio, he can communicate with his father, back when his father was still alive. He warns his father of the fire that would kill him. This saves his father but sets off new events that now must be resolved, or John's mother will die.

When that tape is accidentally mailed to his girlfriend in Austin, it's time for a road trip. He and his college buddies go'00 miles so that Josh can try to save his lifelong relationship.

Fantastic Invasion of The Planet Earth: Discharged theatrically in 3-D, this movie was pretty much a disaster. A young couple finds themselves caught in a deserted town encircled in a mammoth bubble. Cast includes Goldie Hawn, Ben Johnson, Michael Sacks, William Atherton, Steve Kanaly, and Louise Latham. (109 minutes,'74)

The Age of Innocence: A humble although powerful rendition of Edith Wharton's novel in reference to an obstructed romance between an involved lawyer and a divorcee, in'70s Manhattan. Cast includes Irene Dunne, John Boles, Lionel Atwill, Helen Westley, Laura Wish Teams, and Julie Haydon. (81 minutes,'34)

Jurassic Park III: This amusing popcorn film that takes a scenario and plays it for all it's worth as professor-paleontologist Neill is convinced to lead an expedition to the prohibited island where dinosaurs wander, however obviously he hasn't been informed of the realities. The movie is full of scares, and lots of fun proving that a thriller doesn't have to be dumb. Cast includes Sam Neill, William H. Macy, Tea Leoni, Alessandro Nivola, Trevor Morgan, Michael Jeter, John Diehl, and Bruce A. Young. (93 minutes, 2001)

Alfredo Alfredo: An all too normal Italian comedy in regards to a milquetoast who triumphs and weds a seductive female, only to regret the conquest. The lone interest is recognizing Hoffman?s good work in this uncommon setting (with a dubbed voice!). Cast includes Dustin Hoffman, Stefania Sandrelli, Carla Gravina, Clara Colosimo, Daniele Patella, and Duilio Del Prete. (98 minutes,'72)

The Lost Boys: A family moves to a California town where the local adolescent gang turns out to be vampires! A smooth film aimed at a younger audience. Cast includes Barbara Stanwyck, Preston Foster, Barry Fitzgerald, Una O'Connor, Bonita Granville, and Arthur Guards. (78 minutes,'36)

Playing God: This film is a preposterous tale of drug addicted ex-surgeon Duchovny employed by gangster Hutton to be the personal crisis medical expert for his shot-up and sliced cronies. The improvised medical therapy is so entirely comical that it upstages the ridiculousness of the tale line. Why this film was ever made is genuinely a case for The X Files. Cast includes David Duchovny, Timothy Hutton, Angelina Jolie, Michael Massee, Peter Stormare, Gary Dourdan, John Hawkes, and Andrew Tieman. (93 minutes,'97)

A Music Fan Site With A Difference

By Ged Brockie

For a true fan in the indie rock music industry, there is no greater accomplishment than finding a group that you know will succeed in the future. Recognizing what a band requires in order to be successful in this increasingly competitive market is a feeling created from having enough knowledge of the music industry. When an unknown band that you support finds success in a large scale atmosphere you build a sense of unity with the band for having known it at such an early stage. This building of fandom represents the ultimate form of band support and can often lead to recognition from the band itself who is often aware of the fans that support them at such an early phase.

Many indie rock music fans have had limited opportunities in finding this level of fandom due to the demands related to it such as found in following a band around or following the online fad of musical groups in communication outlets such as MySpace or Facebook. These venues are limited in their exposure and often make it difficult for real fans of indie rock music to find the new music that will relate to them.

To discover the best new indie bands at the beginning of their growth opportunities look toward the internet and the sites dedicated to these bands. Here the fans of indie rock music can look worldwide at the newest introductions on the rock circuit. With these online sites a fan can listen to free music and make decisions on the latest indie rock music through voting in their online competitions.

The internet helps to remove the restrictions of physical borders by allowing a person to view the performances of their favorite new bands. A fan will also have an opportunity to see their new indie bands by following their performances online and discovering when they will be performing in a venue near them.

How a band is impacted by individuals outside of the group is often defined by as a fan base. For a large successful band this is most commonly displayed through record sales and sold out concerts as they cater to the fan masses. For the smaller band every fan is an individual and support is generated through supporting the band online and occasionally buying their goods through music downloads and clothing sales. These sites often recognize the importance of the small band indie rock music fan and supports them in their efforts to support the music. For the very active fans of this genre of music these sites like to recognize site contributers by recognizing them in the TOP 10 FANS web board. Earning points through voting and earning points with the band products you purchase are only a few ways you can earn rewards and make it to the top ten. - 18762
