Michael Jackson -- Entertainer to the End

By James Ziebarth

After August 29, 1958, Gary Indiana would never be the same. Michael Jackson was born to Joseph and Katherine Jackson. parents could not be so different. Katherine was a dedicated Jehovah's witness. Joseph was a factory worker who dabbled The Falcons. The Falcons was a Rhythm and Blues. Michael Jackson came into this world quietly. He would not leave the same way.

Joseph Jackson wasted little time living vicariously through his children. Joseph turned his children into musicians and started a family group. Michael Jackson and his brother Marlon would join this group in 1964. Michael was only eight years old when he started singing backup vocals and dancing. Michael and Marlon quickly became lead singers and the performing team was named The Jackson Five.

Skipping to 1982, Michael Jackson released his second album, Thriller. It would become the most commercially successful album of all times. Thriller remained in the Billboard 200 for an astonishing 80 consecutive weeks. Thriller was certified for 28 million shipments by RIAA, earning it Double Diamond status. World wide sales were estimated at 47 million to 109 million records.

Adding the title of author to his repetoir in 1988, Michael would release Moon Walk. His personal autobiography that took four years to complete and would go on to sell over 200,000 copies.

1982 was a banner year for Jacko. However, the year between 1984 and 1985 would prove to have its ups and downs. Michael spent $47.5 million to purchase the Beatles music collection. That expenditure would turn me green but I am not Michael Jackson. The low point on the year was being burned on his scalp. He was burned during the filming of a Pepsi commercial.

Title of performer was not enough for Michael Jackson. He released his first book, Moon Walk, in 1988. Moon Walk was an autobiography that took Michael Jackson four years to write. Over 200,000 people purchased the book.

Michael Jackson began the Neverland Ranch in 1988. Near Santa Ynez, California, he purchased real estate. He then spent a total of $17 million to install a Ferris wheel, movie theatre, and zoo. Jacko also proved that he was very concerned with security by hiring 40 security guards. Talk about appreciation, a 2003 appraisal estimated Neverland's value at $100 million.

Hoping for true love and a second attempt at a long lasting marriage, Jackson would remarry on November 14, 1996. The bride would be identified at Debbie Rowe, Michael's dermatology nurse. Together they would have 2 children. A boy and a girl. Michel Joseph Jackson a.k.a. Prince Michael Jackson, and Paris Katherine Michael Jackson. In only 3 short years the couple would call it quits and Debbie Rowe would give full custody right of the children over to their father Michael.

A third child would be born to Jacko in 2002. Jackson would never reveal the identity of the child's actual mother. All he would confirm is that the child was conceived using his sperm cells with a surrogate mother and an artificial insemination.

In 2003, Michael Jackson was once more accused of child molestation by then 13 year old Gavin Arvizo. Jackson would be charged with seven counts of child molestation and two counts of administering an intoxicating agent to a minor.. Jackson would deny all allegations.

His trial, People vs. Jackson, would officially begin on January 31, 2005 and would last for a period of only 5 months. The trial ended with Jackson being acquitted on all counts.

Prior to his death in 2009, Jacko was in the process of a "Come Back" show. It was scheduled to take place at London's O2 arena and had sold tickets for an astounding 50 sold out concerts. They were to officially begin on July 13, 2009, with the last show taking place on March 6,2010. The ticket sales had already broken numerous records, according to Jackson's website.

Michael Jackson collapsed at his mansion in LA. Attempts to revive him were unsuccessful. LA Paramedics received a call at 12:22 p.m (PDT). They arrived three minutes later at Jacko's residence. sources on the scene stated Jackson was not breathing. CPR would continue for an hour while en route to a local Los Angeles hospital, where Jackson would be pronounced dead at 2:26 p.m. local time.

His memorial would be held on July7, 2009, at the Staples Center in Los Angles. His casket was present at the memorial, which was broadcast live all around the world and watched by up to one billion people, but no information would be released about the final resting place of Michael Jackson's body. RIP Michael "King of Pop" Jackson. - 18762

The Long Wait Is Finally Over: 9/9/9 Is The Release Day For The Remastered Stereo & Mono Beatles Box Sets

By Jamie T. Winston

If you're like me (a huge Beatles freak) then September 9th is basically Christmas Day! This is the day that new remastered Beatles CDs are finally coming out, 22 years since the original Beatles CDs were released.

In 1987 when The Beatles first released their albums in the CD format, the technology was still new. The mastering job done on those CDs is considered sub par and that's why Beatles fans have long been clamoring for remastered CDs.

But the excitement from 9/9/9 doesn't just come from the fact that the albums are being remastered for the first time since their original release on CD, it also comes from the mono box set that is being released on that day.

This will be the first time ever that the original mono mixes of all of The Beatles albums (at least those that had an original mono mix) are going to be released on CD.

Mono was being phased out way back in the 1960s, so why should we listen to mono mixes in 2009? This is an understandable view but if you think of these mixes as being the originally intended mixes, it's interesting to hear them.

In the 1960s mono mixes were considered to be of primary importance while stereo was still a new technology that wasn't taken very seriously just yet. Because of this the band spent a lot more time working on getting their mono mixes right. The stereo mixes would often be done without any input from the band at all, actually.

Some claim that the mono versions of Sgt. Pepper & Revolver are far better than the stereo mixes. Those of us who grew up with the stereo versions find that hard to believe, but I think we are very curious to hear what these old timers are talking about, too.

But new CDs are not the only Beatles gear coming out on September 9th, there's also the new Beatles Rock Band game. It looks like a lot of fun.

Even if you aren't too into playing video games I think the Beatles Rock Band game is worth giving a chance to if you're a big Beatles fan. It should be great fun to sing and drum to The Beatles songs (the guitar part I don't really care for, I know from playing other Rock Band games that it's not really related to playing real guitar.) - 18762

By Susan S Wilson

The James Bond 007 movies are the highest financially thriving English language motion picture franchise to date. The English author Ian Fleming created James Bond 007 in 1953. Mr. Bond was featured in twelve novels and two short story collections. The film franchise started with "Dr. No" in 1962.

Ian Fleming, the author of James Bond, passed away back in 1964 but the larger-than-life character of James Bond lives on in novels by up to five other writers, such as Robert Markham, the pen name for Kingsley Amis, John Pearson, Raymond Benson, John Gardner and Sebastian Faulks. Christopher Woods novelized two screenplays and various other authors' wrote unsanctioned versions of James Bond.

The movies began in the year 1962 with "Dr. No", the last movie was "Quantum of Solace" from October 31, 2008. There have been 22 pictures to date with a 23rd now in the works.

Different stars have portrayed Bond. Sean Connery was the initial James Bond in the films. He played James Bond in 6 diverse movies, beginning with "Dr. No" in 1962. In 1963, it was followed by "From Russia with Love", "Goldfinger" in 1964, "Thunderball" from 1965, "You Only Live Twice" in 1967 and from 1971, "Diamonds are Forever".

In 1969, Sean Connery took a interruption from being James Bond for the show "On Her Majesty's Secret Service". George Lazenby played James Bond in that film. He was the only artist of all of the James Bond actors to just work in one show.

After that Roger Moore became Bond. In 1973 for "Live and Let Die", 1974 in "The Man with the Golden Gun" and 1977, "The Spy who Loved Me", in 1979 it was "Moonraker" and 1981 brought "For Your Eyes Only", "Octopussy" in 1983 and the last movie starring Roger Moore was "A View to a Kill" in 1985.

Timothy Dalton followed for only the next two films "The Living Daylights" from 1987 and "License to Kill" in 1989. "Goldeneye" came out in 1995 with Pierce Brosnan as James Bond. He continued for 3 added films, in 1997 "Tomorrow Never Dies" and 1999, "The World Is Not Enough" and 2002 "Die Another Day".

The single blonde player to ever represent Bond is the present star of the franchise. Daniel Craig was Bond in 2006 for "Casino Royale" and 2008 for "Quantum of Solace". Another Bond movie is now in the works, set for an undetermined occasion and only referred to now as "James Bond 23". Daniel Craig is set to star in the lead part. - 18762
