Sugar Town - Enjoyable variety of LA life characterizing a handful of characters whose lives unite - a musician hopeful who will do anything to get ahead, an uptight lone lady who allures the wrong men like a magnet, and a band made up of cleaned-up '80s rock stars, to name a few. Made on a shoestring, although sharp and well recognized; brilliant cast comprises a number of real life musicians. Cast includes Ally Sheedy, Rosanna Arquette, John Taylor, Jade Gordon, Michael Des Barres, Lucinda Jenney, and Martin Kemp. 92 minutes, 1999.

Clue - Silly and insipid thriller based on the trendy board game of the same name with all the identifiable characters Mrs. Peacock, Colonel Mustard, Miss Red, et al. gathered for a murderous day in a Victorian mansion. Everyone tries enormously hard but there is nothing they can do to save this weak film. Cast includes Eileen Brennan, Tim Curry, Madeline Kahn, Christopher Lloyd, Michael McKean, Martin Ponder, and Howard Hesseman. 87 minutes, 1985.

Black like Me - Vigorous drama based on genuine history of a reporter who took drugs that permitted him to pass for black so he might undergo racial prejudice first hand. Some aspects of presentation are un-contemporary, although topics are still pertinent. Cast includes James Whitmore, Roscoe Lee Browne, Lenka Petersen, Sorrell Booke, Will Geer, Al Freeman, and Raymond Jacques. 107 minutes, 1964.

Strange Interlude - A Eugene O'Neill play that shows the complex web of the diversity between our thoughts and our words. Norma Shearer is cast as a woman who lost the love of her life when he was shot down in WWI. The movie tells of romances and marriages between Nina and three men, only one of whom she loves. It is about growing old without settling their complications. This is a fascinating motion picture, with Shearer at her talented best. The cast includes Norma Shearer, Clark Gable, Might Robson, Maureen O'Sullivan, Robert Youthful, Ralph Morgan, Henry B. Walthall, and Alexander Kirkland. 110 minutes, 1932.

Internal Affairs - Young police officer Raymond Avila works in the Internal Affairs Department of the LAPD. He and his colleague see something suspect with Dennis Peck. His financial situation is much stronger than expected on a policeman's wage. As soon as Peck is aware of the investigation, he turns his attention away from his dishonest dealings to concentrate on Avila.

In God We Trust - Uninformed friar Feldman treks to L.A. to get money for his monastery. This movie is a comedy that is disastrously unfunny starring Richard Pryor, who is cast as God. Cast includes Marty Feldman, Peter Boyle, Louise Lasser, Richard Pryor, Andy Kaufman, Wilfrid Hyde-White, and Severn Darden. 97 minutes, 1984.

Belles on Their Toes - Here, Myrna Loy is cast as a widowed architect who will campaign to rear her aging brood. 20th Century Fox back lot seen at its best in recollecting early 1900s America. Clifton Webb makes a brief appearance at the climax. Cast includes Myrna Loy, Jeanne Crain, Debra Paget, Jeffrey Hunter, Edward Arnold, Hoagy Carmichael, Barbara Bates, Robert Arthur, Verna Felton, and Martin Milner. 89 minutes, 1952.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall - Here is a romantic comedy set in a stunning resort in Hawaii. After being dumped by his girlfriend Sarah, he at last decides to go to Hawaii to get over the loss. Unfortunately, when he goes to check in at the resort, the first person he sees is Sarah, and of course her new boyfriend. - 18762
