Beatles Remastered Box Sets and USB

By Harold H. Quesenberry

It's difficult to imagine in many ways, but this year has definitely been enormous for the legendary rock band The Beatles. 2009 was the year Beatles fans have been waiting for because it was the year that the remastered versions of their albums finally came out on CD and digitally.

Beatles in Stereo Box Set

This box set has been the most popular Beatles release of 2009. It's been a huge unit shifter and for good reason. It contains their entire 1962-1970 catalog in high quality digitally remastered stereo. These remasters sound absolutely spectacular (these discs are far better than the 1980s Beatles CDs you may own at the moment.)

The really big improvement compared to the old discs are heard in the way Paul's bass guitar blasts through the mix like never before and Ringo's drums sound far better than they used to as well. It's also great to be able to hear each individual vocal part more clearly which we can do with these new remasters.

The Beatles in Mono Box Set

The release that has gained the most attention of really big Beatles fans is the mono box set because it's the first time in decades that The Beatles mono mixes have been available to purchase new in any format.

Many "purist" Beatles fans feel strongly that these mono mixes were really the way their music was originally meant to be enjoyed and they have good reason for believing that. Mono was what most Beatles fans listened to in the '60s and The Beatles spent the majority of their time working on getting the mono mixes just right. Meanwhile, the band spent almost no time working on the stereo mixes up until The White Album.

The Beatles Remastered USB

This is a digital version of The Beatles in Stereo Box Set. It includes both high quality mp3 files and audiophile "better than CD" 24bit FLAC files. Along with the obvious audio component, this Apple USB stick also contains all of the visual parts of the box set such as the thirteen mini documentaries, the extended liner notes for each album, and the photographs.

The Beatles USB stick is compatible with both PC and Mac computers. The mp3s that it includes should work with no problems with any mp3 player (whether it be a Zune, an iPod, or another player.) - 18762
