Lily Allen Under Investigation Over Smoking Claims
Pop star Lily Allen is currently under investigation after being accused of smoking at a non-smoking venue while in concert. The singer performed at a concert in Liverpool and is now under investigation because of the incident.
The council of Liverpool have undertaken an investigation into the accusations that Lily Allen smoked at a music venue in Liverpool. According to BBC reports the Liverpool council were alerted to the incident via a local newspaper who reviewed the show.
A spokesman for the council says that if the "Smile" singer is found to have been smoking, she will have violated the workplace legislation. Anyone who witnessed Allen smoking is being asked to contact the council.
If it is found that the singer was indeed smoking during the performance, both she and the venue can be fined. A spokesperson for Allen would not make a comment to the BBC concerning the event. This week Allen appeared at Elton John's winter ball; John had requested that Allen design a bar for his AIDS charity. Her creation raised 100,000 for the Grey Goose & Cocktails seasonal fundraiser.
A music magazine quoted Lily Allen as saying that she thought the charity was a good idea. She decided to make her design compact as she lives in London and doesn't have that much space in her flat. It must have been a great success if it managed to raise that much money for charity.
Lily Allen is no stranger to controversy. This year she has caused a storm by claiming that illegal downloads are harming musicians. Bands such as Radiohead and Pink Floyd claimed that downloads shouldn't be restricted to only those fans who can afford to purchase songs. Lily Allen then faced a barrage of criticism from a number of different people in the music industry. Lily Allen has also been the focus of a tabloid campaign because of her perceived wild behavior. The star has now revealed that she is taking time off music to concentrate on acting instead. - 18762
