7 Critiques Of Popular Movies For Your Pleasure

By Crystal Hodge

Things are shifting in the way that we access our home motion picture entertainment. Nowadays you can download to your computer the same whole, first-class motion pictures that you can stumble on in any well-stocked video store. You may then pick to view it straight away from your computer monitor, your iPod or iPhone, your PSP or you can even transport it to a DVD and watch it from your television set.

Roll Bounce - A group of skate-admiring youngsters on Chicago's South Side have to prove themselves to the snobs on the other side of town while their community skating rink closes, all at the same time as facing the pleasures and pangs of growing up. As trend-based coming of age films go, this is a step or two underneath Saturday Night Fever and an advancement over Roller Boogie. Cast includes Bow Wow, Chi McBride, Mike Epps, Wesley Jonathan, Kellita Smith, Meagan Good, and Tim Kazurinsky. (112 minutes, 2005)

Slavers - (1978-German) C-I02 Slavers is about the slave trade industry that went on in Africa all through the'th century. An outstanding cast is saddled with second-rate script. Cast includes Trevor Howard, Ron Ely, Britt Ekland, Jurgen Goslar, Ray Milland, Ken Gampu, and Cameron Mitchell. (102 minutes,'78)

The Accidental Tourist - This film tells the account of Macon Leary, who is listless after the death of his son. This is compounded more when his wife decides to leave him because he won't snap out of it. With a divorce around the corner he finds himself mixed up with a new woman, who is helping bring him back to life. Now his wife decides to have him back, and he is faced with more tough questions. William Hurt, Kathleen Turner, Geena Davis, Amy Wright, and Bill Pullman star. (1988 Drama)

Inferno - American returns to New York from school in Rome to examine the hideous death of his sibling, and finds "sinister moms" inflicting paranormal pandemonium on both sides of Atlantic. Surreal, hypnotic shocker by Italian terror maestro Argento doesn't make much sense, but it has a lot of style. Cast includes Leigh McCloskey, Irene Marvel, Sacha Pitoeff, Daria Nicolodi, Eleonora Giorgi, Veronica Lazar, and Alida Valli. (107 minutes,'84)

Lara Croft Tomb Raider, The Cradle of Life - Pouting and pillaging in a range of exposing outfits, Jolie returns as the video-game adventuress who teams up with her gloomy ex in a race to find Pandora's Box before it falls into the hands of an evil scientist who wants to harness its current to build up biological weapons. Astonishingly clumsy and incessant continuation gives new significance to the word "uninteresting." Cast includes Angelina Jolie, Gerard Butler, Noah Taylor, Christopher Barrie, and Simon Ya. (117 minutes, 2003)

Pretty Woman - A coincidental meeting of a street hooker and a callous and extremely wealthy businessman leads to a unique proposition. He hires her for the week, to attend some functions with him as an escort. He has no idea what he has gotten himself into. Starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere.

From Nashville with Music - Some excellent country and western music, although one would be better served to procure one of the actors' albums rather than agonizing through this tale of a New York couple who go to the Grand Ole Opry inadvertently. Cast includes Marilyn Maxwell, Leo G. Carroll, Pedro Gonzalez, Marty Robbins, Merle Haggard, and Buck Owens. (87 minutes,'69)
