Sharp Synopses Of A Mixed Bag Of Picture Shows

By Gretchen Hensley

Look below if you came to see motion picture reviews. You can get to a good film download site through the search engines. To get some good sites try to search phrases like "Download Internet Movies", "Download Videos", or "Online DVD".

Reptilicus: The tail of a prehistoric beast, recently found, spawns into the whole animal. Only excellent for a few laughs as script hits every possible beast film stereotype, right to the very last shot. The picture was filmed in Denmark. Cast includes Carl Ottosen, Ann Smyrner, Mimi Heinrich, Asbjom Andersen, and Marla Behrens. (90 minutes,'62)

Aladdin: Disney's energized Arabian Nights story is refined through the sensibility of an old Warner Bros. animation, as Aladdin summons up a Genie who's exploding with shtick. Williams is hilarious as a rapid fire on liners form the centerpiece of this alternatively conventional tale, colorfully (and tunefully) shown. Cast includes Voices of Scott Weinger, Robin Williams, Linda Larkin, Jonathan Freeman, Frank Welker, Gilbert Gottfried, Douglas Seale and the harmonizing voices of Brad Kaneand Lea Salonga. (90 minutes,'92)

Man of Iron: The somber account of Germi, a railroad architect, whose life takes a catastrophic turn, influencing his entire family. Cast includes Pietro Germi, Luisa Della Noce, Sylva Kascina, and Carla Giuffre. (116 minutes,'56)

Pauline & Paulette: A charming, emotional film about 2 siblings, the psychologically retarded Pauline (Van der Groen), and Paulette (Petersen), a charismatic cloth shop owner and amateur opera diva whom Pauline cherishes. While destiny brings the 2 together under one ceiling, Paulette tries to push Pauline out of her life. This film was a Victor of 5 Belgian Plateau Prizes, the film characteristics momentous behaviors by 2 legendary Belgian actresses and marks the characteristic debut of co writer and director Debrauwer. Cast includes Dora Van der Groen, Ann Petersen, Julienne De Bruyn, Rosemarie Bergmans, and Idwig Stephane. (78 minutes, 2001)

On Golden Pond: Fonda, in his last film, is no less than radiant as crotchety retired professor Norman Thayer, Jr., furious at being 80 years old and frightened of losing his mind. Hepburn is fine as his committed, all knowing spouse who shares his summers at Maine lakefront home. Jane is his disassociated daughter. Cast includes Katharine Hepburn, Henry Fonda, Jane Fonda, Doug McKeon, Dabney Coleman, and William Lanteau. (1009minutes,'81)

The Forgiven Sinner: Belmondo gives restrained, eccentric acting job as clergyman trying to set gloomy lady onto the road of righteousness. Cast includes Lee Van Cleef, Warren Oates, Forrest Tucker, Kerwin Mathews, and Mariette Hartley. Cast includes Jean-Paul Belmondo, Emmanuele Riva, Patricia Gozzi, and Irene Tunc. (101 minutes,'61)

Airport: Airport is an ultra slick, old-styled film that amuses regardless of itself, detailing a chaotic fall day at a metropolitan airport. Cast includes Burt Lancaster, Dean Martin, George Kennedy, Helen Hayes, Jean Seberg, Jacqueline Bisset, Van Heflin, Maureen Stapleton, Barry Nelson, Dana Wynter, Lloyd Nolan, Barbara Hale, and Gary Collins. (137 minutes,'70)

Crusoe: An intense rendition of the oft-filmed Defoe classic, with Quinn cast as the title personality, a slave dealer who's shipwrecked on a deserted isle, where he must handle loneliness, seclusion, survival. The most captivating of all is his growing relation with black combatant Sapara. Cast includes Aidan Quinn, Ade Sapara, Warren Clark, Hepburn Grahame, Jimmy Nail, Tim Spall, Michael Higgins, Shane Rimmer, and Oliver Platt. (91 minutes,'88)

The Big Trees: An ambitious lumberman Douglas runs afoul of a religious sect and nearly everybody else around him in this cornball outdoor melodrama. Cast includes Kirk Douglas, Eve Miller, Patrice Wymore, Edgar Buchanan, John Archer, Alan Hale, Jr., Roy Roberts, and Ellen Corby. (89 minutes,'52)
