A Sampling Of Precise Film Plot Lines To Go Over

By Manuela Bryant

It wasn't that long ago that a trip to the corner video shop was the most convenient way to get a movie. You can now save a trip to the video store and download movies right off the internet. You can get virtually any movie you want with a good movie download site. Here are some examples.

Life With Father: Powerful adaptation of a long running Broadway play by Howard Lindsay and Russell Crusoe based on Clarence Night's tale of growing up in turn-of-the-century NYC with his admiring although offbeat dad. This is utterly admirable, and a handsome production also. The Screen-play is by Donald Ogden Stewart. Cast includes William Powell, Irene Dunne, Elizabeth Taylor, Edmund Gwenn, ZaSu Pitts, Jimmy Lydon, and Matlin Milner. (118 minutes,'47)

Mickey Blue Eyes: Alarmingly unfunny story based on the renowned nearsighted animation personality refreshed in the energized credits, with Greg Burson filling in for Jim Backus as the voice of Magoo. Nielsen does his best unconditionally, although the pointlessly difficult plot about the theft of a dear cherry just goes on and on. There are a tremendous amount of mean spirited characters for a kid's film. Cast includes Hugh Permit, James Caan, Jeanne Trippet, Leslie Nielsen, Jennifer Gamer, Malcolm McDowell, and Miguel Ferrer. (103 minutes,'99)

The Abandoned: An American adoptee gets caught up in an endless maze of terror while, after getting a bizarre invitation, she goes back to Russia to find out where here roots are. In her dark and scary childhood home, she is tested by untold evil powers and troubling mysteries from her past. This film is a European throwback, in the horror genre. Anastasia Hille, Karel Roden, Valentin Ganev, and Carlos Reig-Plaza are the main cast Nacho Cerda directs (2007 Horror)

Across the Universe: A young English boy comes to the US to find his father. On his search he finds, and falls in love with an American girl. Set in post Vietnam War US, this movie is really a vehicle to play a lot of Beatles music. Cast includes Julie Taymor. Evan Rachel Wood. Jim Sturgess, Joe Anderson, Dana Fuchs, Martin Luther McCoy. T. V. Carpio, Spencer Litf, Lisa Hogg, Bill Irwin, James Urbaniak, Dylan Baker, Joe Cocker, Bono, Salma Hayek, and Eddie Izzard all make appearances. (2007 Romance)

Heartbreaker: Chicano Allende falls for WASP Dunlap among an ambiance of custom-fitted cars. Dull self sufficient production is displeasingly devoid of observations into the lifestyle it portrays. Look quick for Patty "Apollonia" Kotero. Cast includes Daybreak Dunlap, Peter Gonzales Falcon, Michael D. Roberts, Miguel Ferrer, Pepe Serna, and Rafael Campos. (90 minutes,'83)

Madagascar: A fun animated family comedy. When Marty the zebra decides he wants to see the world from outside the zoo, the penguins help him escape. Marty is gone, his friend also breaks out to find him and bring him home. Once out, they are captured by well meaning humans and shipped to Africa, to be returned to the wild. They miss Africa, and wind up on the magical island of Madagascar.

Downhill: This film charts a gentleman's spiritual skid, beginning while, as a schoolboy, he is disowned by his family after an indiscretion with a gal, and later as an adult while his spouse wastes away his inheritance. Lesser Hitchcock film still shows the master's visual ability. Cast includes Ivor Novello, Ben Webster, Robin Irvine, Sybil Rhoda, Lillian Braithwaite, Isabel Pants, and Ian Hunter. (95 minutes,'27)

The Ploughman's Lunch: Difficult, skeptical condemnation of British behaviors, ethics and affairs of state, focusing on the exercises of completely selfish journalist (Pryce) and others throughout the Falklands battle. The film is relatively perceptive, within the restraints of its outlook. Cast includes Jonathan Pryce, Tim Curry, Rosemary Harris, Blunt Finlay, and Charlie Dore. (100 minutes,'83)

Airport: Weak, later Laurel and Hardy comedy. One conceivably excellent scene with dull-burn as director Kennedy doesn't meet his normal high standards. Cast includes Stan Laurel, Oliver Hardy, Edgar Kennedy, Jacqueline White, Horace Stephen McNally, and Donald Modest. (67 minutes,'43)

Those of you looking for file downloads could try a search with "Rent DVD". If that one doesn't work try another one. "Online Movie And Game Rentals" would be worth a try. - 18762
