Looking For A Impressive Movie? Check Out These Impressive Movie Opinions

By Courtney Walsh

You get home and you are in the mood to watch a funny comedy and you find that they sent the latest horror flick as a substitute. And some of the mail-in subscriptions don't offer the newest releases until later so you end up having to visit the dvd/store anyway and you're back where you started because of course the movie is not in stock and you have to wait once more.

Barnyard - Animated foolishness set on a farm where, after sundown, the animals turn the barn into a boisterous nightclub. James is Otis, a young cow who is very grown-up, much to the chagrin of his dad, Ben Elliott, who keeps watch for predatory coyotes when the others party. Dom Irrera stands out as Duke the Dog. Cast includes Courtney Cox, Sam Elliott, Danny Glover, Wanda Sykes, Andie MacDowell, David Koechner, and Laraine Newman. (90 minutes, 2006)

The Beverly Hillbillies: This is a movie based on the'60's TV series. When Jed Clampett inadvertently discovers oil on his farm land in Arkansas, he becomes an instant millionaire. He brings the entire Clampett kin out to Beverly Hills. Being plain country folk they are prey to every money hungry con artist in the big city.

Sugar Town - Amusing variety of LA life characterizing a handful of characters whose lives come together - a musician would-be who'll do anything to get ahead, an uptight lone woman who allures the unsuitable men like a magnet, and a band made up of cleaned-up '80s rock megastars, to name a few. Made on a shoestring, although intelligent and well recognized; first-rate cast comprises a variety of actual musicians. Cast includes Ally Sheedy, Rosanna Arquette, John Taylor, Jade Gordon, Michael Des Barres, Lucinda Jenney, and Martin Kemp. (92 minutes,'99)

Dracula - Depressing retelling of the Bram Stoker classic, with Langella's esteemed Broadway characterization lost among trendy terror gimmicks and ill-imagined changes in the original tale. The movie was filmed in England. Cast includes Frank Langella, Laurence Olivier, Donald Pleasence, Kate Nelligan, Trevor Eve, Janine Duvitski, and Tony Haygarth. (109 minutes,'79)

Number One with a Bullet - Carradine and Williams do well in this rather average action movie where we have aggressive investigators out to oust a drug kingpin. Cast includes Robert Carradine, Billy Dee Williams, Valerie Bertinelli, Peter Graves, Doris Roberts, and Bobby DiCicco. (101 minutes,'87)

Consequently we tried a mail subscription. It sounded like it might work well. Just fill up your queue and pick up your movies at the mailbox. The only drawback was that if the first movie that you wanted wasn't available then they would send the second movie or the third movie on your list in its place. - 18762
