This was filmed on location at Oxford. The Hurricane: The true story of Rubin 'Hurricane' Carter, a middleweight title contender, who had his dreams of a boxing title abruptly ended when he was falsely arrested and convicted of a triple homicide. He eventually gives up all hope when imprisoned until a young Blackman, and his adopted Canadian parents take up his lost cause. They are up against staunch racism at every turn, but eventually Hurricane is set free.
The Truman Show: Truman Burbank starts to get a strange feeling. He can't quite explain it, but something just isn't right. It turns out that Truman is right. In fact everyone else in town is an actor, and every day is The Truman Show.
Lunch Wagon Girls: Ball turns investigator in this melodrama and confronts weird characters and harrowing experiences while tracking a killer. This film is excellent, with a top cast. Cast includes Lucille Ball, Charles Coburn, Alan Mowbray, Cedric Hardwicke, Boris Karloff, and George Zucco. (95 minutes, 1968)
The Royal Tenenbaums: Depicted by Alec Baldwin, the no good Hackman dropped his spouse and 3 prodigy youngsters long ago, however now the need to make up lost time is apparent, especially since he's flat broke. Ranting comedy has similar likable, offbeat attributes as the film makers' Bottle Rocket. Cast includes Gene Hackman, Anjelica Huston, Gwyneth Paltrow, Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, Luke Wilson, Bill Murray, and Danny Glover. (108 minutes, 2001)
Black Narcissus: Visually sumptuous, dramatically charged film, from a Godden novel. Nuns are trying to develop a mission in a remote Himalayan outpost among difficult visible and spiritual tests. One of the most amazing color films ever made (deserved Oscars for cinematographers Jack Cardiff and Alfred Junge). Scenes in which Sister Better Kerr recollects her prior life was eliminated from the US version. Cast includes Deborah Kerr, David Farrar, Jean Simmons, and Kathleen Byron. (100 minutes, 1999)
Striptease: Erin Grant is a stripper at the Eager Beaver. She is trying to raise enough money to get her daughter back from her divorced jerk of a former husband. Things spin out of control for Erin when a corrupt congressman comes to the club and takes a liking to her.
