For Love of Ivy: A family desires to keep their servant, so they find her a man to keep her happy. The film is a ho-hum black romance at best. Cast includes Sidney Poitier, Abbey Lincoln, Guy Bridges, Leon Bibb, Nan, Martin, Lauri Peters, and Carroll O'Connor. (102 minutes, 1968)
Gorgo: This film is an excellent sci-fi tale of a captured ocean beast put on display in London, and the massive parent, who is coming to the rescue. The film has excellent visual effects. Lantana: An adult story of relations obstructed by monotony, routine, and absence of articulation. LaPaglia plays a cop, whose matrimony has stagnated, leading him to have an affair. In the mean time, he examines the disappearance of a lady whose own matrimony is in danger. The film is beautifully nuanced at every turn. Cast includes Anthony LaLaglia, Geoffrey Hurry, Barbara Hershey, Kerry Armstrong, Rachael Blake, Vince Colosimo, Daniela Farinacci, and Peter Phelps. (121 minutes, 2001)
Day of Wrath: Remarkably well put together drama in regards to an old lady implicated of being a sorcerer and the hex that she sets on the minister who is accountable for her flaming. Cast includes Thorkild Roose, Lisbeth Movin, Sigrid Neiiendam, Preben Lerdorff, and Anna Svierker. (100 minutes, 194)
Rambling Rose: An evocative story set in 1930s Georgia, with Dem as an oversexed senseless gal who comes to work for a ladylike family headed by Duvall and Ladd. Vibrant, pleasantly detailed, and well performed, with numerous delightful surprises during the voyage. Cast includes Laura Dem, Robert Duvall, Diane Ladd, Lukas Haas, John Heard, Kevin Conway, Robert J. Burke, Lisa Jakub, and Evan Lockwood. (112 minutes, 1991)
Prophecy: A classical musician and her physician spouse quarrel over what appears to be gigantic salami in upstate Maine after mercury turns animals into large mutants and worse. A ludicrous terror film that is excellent for a few chuckles. Cast includes Talia Shire, Robert Foxworth, Armand Assante, Richard Dysart, and Victoria Racimo. (95 minutes, 1979)
The Alannist: An eccentric and choppy black comedy in reference to a novice door to door security alarm salesman (Arquette) who finds that his manager and self-fashioned mentor (Tucci) is a crook. Then the youthful gentleman falls in love with his first client (Capshaw). Cast includes David Arquette, Stanley Tucci, Kate Capshaw, Mary McCormack, Ryan Reynolds, and Tricia Vessey.
