The country of Scotland has some of the finest countryside in the U.K. making it a most amazing holiday destination. The Wickerman Festival is an annual music and arts festival takes place on farm land near Dundrennan in the heart of Dumfries & Galloway approximately 5 miles away from the Scottish town of Kirkcudbright. The event celebrates the 1973 cult British movie "The Wicker Man" which the stars Christopher Lee, Edward Woodward, Ingrid Pitt, Britt Ekland and Diane Cilento.
The very first festival took place in July, 2002 and was created by a local man called Sid Ambrose. With little experience of organizing a very large event it is surprising that it still exists, especially when you think about the current economic climate. The festival has altered slightly each year and has an almost cult following itself.
The festival is hugely family friendly it has a great many child orientated activities for example, a mountain biking trek, various fairground rides, face painting and various workshops.
