Michael Jackson - They Don't Really Care about Us
It seems the death of Michael Jackson has affected me more than I thought it would. There is a eerie emptiness inside of me that may be a reflection of the years of superior entertainment that Michael gave me. Hearing of his passing from what was originally reported as a massive heart attack, left me feeling stunned and in some ways concerned over the fragileness of the human body. After all Michael was only 50 years old, he was not overweight; he did not smoke, and most assuredly got plenty of exercise.
As we now know, there was a lot more to the story, than we expected or wanted to know. Michael evidently had a sleeping disorder and decided to take matters into his own hands. He hired a surgeon to administer very powerful drugs that he believed would help him to sleep. Evidently he had been doing this for years. He also took pills that would also help him to sleep more soundly.
As the light begins to shine on how Michael Jackson died we see another case of a person who died as an indirect result of their wealth. Had Michael Jackson been a normal middle-class human being, he would not have been able to hire surgeons to administer powerful drugs that are normally only available during surgery in a hospital setting.
Even though I realize what Michael did was wrong and stupid and eventually contributed to his death I still will miss him and his music. I saw two Michael Jackson's, I saw the freakish Michael Jackson came to a trial in his pajamas and I saw the talented Michael Jackson that had no equal on stage. The Michael Jackson that I miss is the latter.
Michael Jackson's music will live on for many decades. When we hear him singing and three about rock and robins will think of that young boy who is going back to Indiana. We'll also think about the man who wanted to change himself and change the world by looking at the Man in the mirror. - 18762
