A Collection Of Distinctive Hollywood Movie Reviews

By Jodi Sherman

It wasn't that long ago that a trip to the corner video shop was the most convenient way to get a movie. The next generation it seems will be getting their movies from movie downloads, avoiding any trips to the store. Let's look at what you might find to watch using a movie download site.

A Goofy Movie: Ever-lovable Goofy takes his child, Max, on a street-trip vacation. However, it's a lifestyle conflict between the '90s boy and his old-styled dad. Easy and simple Disney animation characteristic for babies with a handful of serviceable melodies and a fine "message" in regards to dad-child relations. No Disney classic, although delightful enough. Cast includes Jason Marsden, Jim Cummings, Kellie Martin, Pillage Paulsen, Wallace Shawn, and Pat Buttra. (78 minutes, 1995)

I, Robot: A complex and entertaining thriller about a future world with advanced robot technology. Detective Del Spooner receives a cryptic message from his old friend, Dr. Alfred Lanning, who appears to have committed suicide. Finding a robot inside the room of the murder, a intriguing mystery develops. Based on their programming robots cannot harm humans, so just what did happen to Dr. Lanning?

Cop Land: Freddy Hanlin is the Sheriff of Garrison New Jersey, a small town not too far from New York City. Freddy always want to be a New York City cop, but he is slightly deaf, so he never could. When internal investigator Mo Tilden shows up in town to look into potential police corruption, Freddie takes up the cause and starts to help out. Freddie is about to learn that the men he has always idolized might be doing some very bad things.

The Bliss of Mrs. Blossom: Oddball, primordial comedy with delightful behaviors. Spouse of brassiere producer keeps a lover in their attic for 5 years. The movie weighs down toward the end, although for the most part a pleasure. Cast includes Shirley Mac Laine, Richard Attenborough, James Booth, Freddie Jones, Bob Monkhouse, and John Cleese. (93 minutes, 1968)

Friday Night Lights: High school football is everything in Dillon Texas. When Eric Taylor comes in to coach the Panthers, the expectations are high. This movie show the intense pressure and huge hopes the town puts on it's team.

No Down Payment: Topical suburban soap opera of entangling complications of few youthful wedded twosomes. Cast includes Joanne Woodward, Jeffrey Hunter, Sheree North, Tony Randall, Cameron Mitchell, Patricia Owens, Barbara Hurry, and Pat Hingle. (105 minutes, 1957)

Days of Wine and Roses: Modern Lost Weekend set in San Francisco, with Lemmon wedding Remick and lugging her into a state of alcoholism. Practical direction and abrasive inscribing combine for phenomenal outcome. Cast includes Jack Lemmon, Lee Remick, Charles Bickford, Jack Klugman, Alan Hewitt, Tom Palmer, and Jack Albertson. (117 minutes, 1962)

Ronin: Several specialists are brought together to recover a available suitcase. It seems the Russians want the suitcase, and ex KGB spies have it. Whatever is inside that case, it seems to carries a high price tag.

China Moon: Tiny-town cop Harris lusts after miserably wedded Stowe in this moody film noir. A few nice twirls, although production is more than a tad comparable to the better Body Heat. This is a directorial debut for Bailey, more superiorly known as a top cinematographer. Cast includes Madeline Stowe, Charles Dance, Benicio Del Taro, Pruitt Taylor Vince, Roger Aaron Brown, and Patricia Healy. (99 minutes, 1994)
